  1. Re disaster relief

Please pray for one of the BMS ministers team who went to Kolkata last November. She is currently in Chile and writes:

Some roads are not passable in the city and there are shortages of petrol. we are about 6hrs from the epicentre but it was still a very scary 2 minutes the other night!

The death toll rises hourly and Sarah´s husband has family in the south still to be accounted for.

No damage to house here apart from some smashed glasses and china.

  2. Prayer – Disaster Relief

    Dear Lord,
We pray for all those around the World who have had their lives devastated by disasters. We pray that when disasters happen, BMS will be there to help those in greatest need.
We pray for emergency relief, that we can rapidly provide medical and material aid where a disaster has destroyed the basic needs of life. We pray for rehabilitation, that we can help to restore the essential services that have been detroyed. We pray for development, that we can help to improve the range and the quality of services that they require.
Help us to respond quickly by providing shelter, food, water, medicines and cooking facilities. Help us to rebuild homes and restore lost or damaged equipment necessary for livelihoods. Help us in teaching new skills to improve opportunities and standards; always moving from dependence towards independence.
Lord, we ask for your help and guidance in all these things, but mostly we ask that you will be with us in all that we do. We ask that through our actions, we can share the love of Christ to some of the neediest people around the World who have had their lives devastated by disaster, and that you may provide them with the comfort and peace that only you can give.
    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen.

    Dear Lord
While we are concentrating mainly on the continent of Africa during this hour we do ask for you to be with all our mission personnel wherever they are at this time. We pray that you encourage, strengthen and support them and protect them from harm particularly those who are working in more sensitive countries. We ask that you give them your wisdom to deal with any situation that may arise and help them to interact with the local communities they are working in to build lasting friendships based on respect, trust and love and for those with young families we pray that you strengthen the family bonds they have. Keep them fit and healthy and in a positive state of mind motivated to do your work wherever they are based.
We are aware that our mission personnel at times face difficulties and ill health and we pray that at these times they know your healing presence, leading and comfort in a special way. We ask that you give them time to set aside to be refreshed and renewed resting in your strength rather than their own.
We thank you for all our mission personnel, whether as long term, midterm or short term workers. We thank you for their commitment , courage and boldness to step out and do your work overseas acting as your hand stretching across and reaching into other lands helping to build your kingdom and sharing the love of Jesus. We thank you all our action teamers and the 11 new mission personnel who are currently training at IMC.
We lift them up all up to you in Jesus precious name and ask you to bless them where they are.
    Amen

  4. 1 Chronicles 16: 23 – 24
    Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
Proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
His marvellous deeds among all peoples.
